The main difference is in how the springs behave during a jump. On a round trampoline, all the springs work together to push jumpers back to the centre of the mat. On a rectangular trampoline, the springs along each side operate more independently, which produces a more responsive and consistent bounce across the whole surface. This makes rectangular trampolines more suitable for gymnastics-style use and for jumpers who want to land accurately. For general family bouncing with young children, a round trampoline tends to be more forgiving.

Garden space requirements depend on the specific model — check the individual product page for frame dimensions. As a general guide, allow around 2 feet of clearance in each direction beyond the frame edge to account for the safety enclosure and a safe margin around the outside. Rectangular trampolines are typically longer in one direction than the other, so measure your garden in both directions to confirm the fit.

They suit gymnastics-style practice better than round models for most people. The independent spring action across the longer sides of the frame gives a more predictable bounce that returns energy to the point of takeoff rather than pushing toward the centre. This makes it easier to practise specific skills and landing positions. That said, rectangular trampolines are fully usable for general jumping too — they are not restricted to gymnastic use.

The limits are comparable to round trampolines at similar price points. As with all trampolines, weight limits apply to single users — the frame is not rated for multiple simultaneous jumpers.
